Salvation Army Luncheon, Christmas Eve
2023 + 2024 | 9th Annual
This year marks the 9th luncheon special for Good Earth, which hosted and organized for a local chapter of Salvation Army in the Lakes Region community on Christmas Eve-Eve. Over 75 people, including families and children, showed up for the special luncheon. Fresh salads, bread, pastas, vegetables and desserts were prepared and served, with holiday floral arrangements and music accompanying for atmosphere. As it concluded, ‘To Go’ food dinners were given out. Good Earth would like to send a special thanks to local sponsors Hannaford Supermarkets & T-Bones Local Eatery. At this time of the year and throughout the seasons, there continues to be over 40 million Americans daily, facing food scarcity and food shortage. With 1 in 5 children facing food hunger (Move for Hunger). If we cannot feed everyone, we must start with one hungry mouth and grow from there.
Good Earth returns for Salvation Army 'special' Holiday Luncheon
December 2022 - This marks the 7th luncheon that Good Earth Non-Profit hosted and organized for the local chapter of Salvation Army in the Lakes Region. Over 50 people, families and children showed up on Christmas Eve for the luncheon, many whom were battling unusual sub-zero temperatures and brutal winds in the days prior. Good Earth served fresh lasagna and mac & cheese, with chicken parmigiana, salads, dinner rolls, as well as a cooked spiral ham. Juice, coffee and a Christmas marble sheet cake with ice cream were served as dessert, followed by a surprise Secret Santa. An assortment of gifts were also collected by Good Earth, and given out to everyone who attended. Warm hats and gloves, towels, puzzles, coloring books and ‘To Go’ food dinners were given out as families and individuals were leaving.
Good Earth would like to send a special thanks to local sponsors Hannaford & T-Bones.

Operation Smile is a GO!
June 2015 - Good Earth wanted to bring more beautiful smiles into the world, and Operation Smile is a 501(c)3 organization that has been working to do just that. The nominal amount of $240 is the total cost of an operation that reverses what is known as Cleft lip syndrome, or Cleft palate, and over 2 billion people lack the proper medical attention they deserve. Through its funding efforts, Good Earth was able to provide assistance towards two individuals who are currently suffering from cleft lip.
Rwanda - Marceline is a bright girl with beautiful eyes
Social Stigma: “I just wanted to play with the other kids, but they only stared at me and laughed.” - Marceline
Nutrition: “We did not know how to give her water. I was worried she would die of thirst.” - Marceline's mother
Speech Impediments: "Even if I think I know the answer, I don’t raise my hand. I don’t want to be called on." -Marceline
Marceline often hides at home. When she does venture out, she is bullied. People laugh at her, call her names and spit on her. They tell me: "Don’t come around here. You are making us sick to our stomachs." And they hit me, said Marceline. She tries to hide her face when she is out in public. She even stopped attending school. Marceline lives as an outcast. When Marceline and her mother heard on the radio that Operation Smile was coming to Rwanda, friends from church lent them the money to make the long trip. “I was so happy when we got there,” Marceline said. “When my name was called for surgery, I was so excited, I was shaking.” In just an hour, Operation Smile’s skilled surgeons repaired her cleft lip and reshaped her nose, giving her hope for a better life.
To find out more survivor stories, such as Marceline's (to the left), or to find out more about the project, visit www.operationsmile.org and see below.
Today, Marceline is in school and she’s confident for the first time in her life. She says, “Other kids are telling me now that I look beautiful.”

Good Earth donates to The ALS Association
August 2014 - The founding of Good Earth has much to do with Jane, who along with being diagnosed with ALS back in the early stages of Good Earth, was also given a short time thereafter to live. Now, in 2014 (at time of writing), Jane is still fighting and remains to be one of the boldest and truest spirits exemplifying ideals of bravery and humility. Her devotion to academia, family and friends is commendable, and her attitude throughout her fight has been one of the key sources of inspiration for Good Earth to be founded and continue on its mission.
Sadly, in March of 2015, Jane passed away after a courageous and inspiring eleven-year journey battling ALS.

Good Earth donates to local "Got Lunch"
December 2013 - Good Earth donated to the local Got Lunch program, which provides assistance to children who, without the help of the program, would not eat a sufficient amount of food on a daily basis and within the school systems.
Ask your local school district to find out more on how to help.
